Sustainability and reflection on meaning at IBA, what impact on the Board of Directors?

Founded in 1986 in Louvain-La-Neuve, IBA is a global medical technology company focused on providing innovative, integrated solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
It currently employs 2,000 people in 25 countries and holds over 500 patents.

Sustainability and meaning are all the rage, but how do we translate this into concrete action within the organization?

Pierre Mottet, Chairman of IBA's Board of Directors, and Sybille van den Hove, independent director of IBA, show us a possible way forward based on their experience.

Pierre Mottet

With a degree in management engineering from UCLouvain in his pocket, Pierre quickly moved into the corporate world, becoming CEO at IBA.
It was on this occasion that he became Chairman of Agoria Wallonie and VP of Agoria Fédérale, as well as a member of the FEB strategic committee.
In 2012, he passed on the CEO torch and became Chairman of the Board.
He reinvests some of the time freed up to support start-ups, creates the SE'nSE fund with the FGF, restructures Invest.BW, of which he becomes Chairman, and co-creates "2030".
Pierre becomes Chairman of UWE in 2020.
Today, together with Sybille van den Hove, he supports IBA's CEO in these transformation initiatives.
Sybille van den Hove

Sybille van den Hove builds bridges to contribute to societal transformations towards a more sustainable world. After a degree in particle physics and initial experience in business, she completed a PhD in ecological economics.
Since then, she has been exploring environmental and sustainability challenges. She has participated in numerous European research programs, notably on climate change and biodiversity. She also puts her experience of transformation at the service of several companies, including IBA as a director.
She has chaired the scientific committee of the European Environment Agency, and is involved with a number of other organizations in this field.
She is co-founder of "2030", a collective of Belgian CEOs and directors committed to sustainability.
